As advisor at InnoValor I am working on the topics Identity, Privacy & Trust. I find it important to not only think about technology itself, but also about regulations, ethics and in particular the impact on users.
My interest in these topics started growing at the end of my bachelor Applied Mathematics: during the minor Cyber Crime & Cyber Security I got in touch with the softer side of cyber security and in particular social engineering. During this minor I worked on a research on the prevention of scams such as Microsoft Callers. This research made me decide to do a master’s in cyber security at the University of Twente.
I am still fascinated by topics such as social engineering, the impact of software on users, but also on topics as ethics and the impact of regulations such as the GDPR. I like to apply these topics in my projects: during my master thesis I looked into the possibilities of using machine learning techniques for the detection of the online romance scam.
In my free time I like to visit concerts from time to time. I can also be found on a bike multiple times a week. In the summer this is usually on a road bike but in the winter, I also use my cyclocross bike and mountain bike. I also ride races on a regular basis. One of the highlights is my third place in the 2018 SWN Studentencup, a ranking over multiple races for students.
